Mission and objectives

Mission
To help adolescents living with cancer regain their self-esteem and sense of pride by offering them an exceptional challenge in adventure therapy in Canada. Supervised by external resources, medical specialists and outdoors adventure experts, these expeditions also aim to change the image of cancer for both the youth and the general public.
Goal
To offer teenagers living with cancer an opportunity to leave the hospital and become separated from civilisation, form their day-to-day environment. A situation is thus created, through which we aim to reconstruct the teenagers’ self-esteem and to help them regain their confidence in life by giving them a challenge and an opportunity to surpass their limits.
Objectives
Each expedition is built around five objectives that concern not only the children, but also the supervising staff: guides, doctors, nurses, and educators.
Therapeutic Objective: Change the perception and image of cancer for the teenagers living with the disease, their families and the general public.
Physical Objective: Surpass physical limits to generate self-esteem and regain hope for the future.
Cultural Objective: Meet new people and discover other cultures for mutual growth and new ways to perceive life and disease.
Geographical Objective: Explore new destinations that challenge the physical self: reaching a summit, paddling down a river, and trekking through wilderness.
Educational Objective: Take advantage of the expedition to teach history and geography, fauna and flora, climate and geomorphology, and to learn more about the importance of interactions between nature and mankind. |
